Has anyone read Paul Kearney's The Monarchies of God? Great five book set. Two powerful religions struggling against one another - very similar to Christianity and Islam. Lots of intrigue, battles, and some interesting sorcery. Read them all straight through. It was great to have a series WITHOUT fi...

Where's Michelle Young These Days?

Hey. I remember watching GH perform at DragonCon when the second cd came out. It was a great, great show. Ms. Young sang back up. I know she has released two cds, but I haven't heard anything recently. Do paths cross anymore? Love the new GH backup singers - all of them - but would like to say Betha...

Is it just me, or did anybody else enjoy reading The Horseclans by Robert Adams?

I know, I know . . . some of the ideas are better than the writing . . . and there are some pretty gruesome scenes . . . but . . . I confess I liked them.

Yeah -- they're not bad. He has updated them sort of. If you get the omnibus from White Wolf, the stories have become a part of his Eternal Champion saga.

Whelan's done some better pictures than that of Elric. See if you can find a his cover to Stormbringer, The Sailor on the Sea of Fate, or Elric at the End of Time. Robert Gould also does an awesome Elric. According to Moorcock, the films are being "talked" about, so I guess that doesn't mean anythin...

ELRIC RULES! Did you hear that they're planning 3 films based on the original books? Can't wait to see if it happens this time.

Moorcock's Hawkmoon is fast and fun reading too. So is Corum.

Dan Simmons Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion are must reads -- Hyperion is a SF Canterbury Tales -- and Simmons' horror background creeps through. Some of the tales are disturbing.

The follow ups - Endymion - were good, but not quite as good. To me anyway.

Love Conan -- only the Howard stories though.

What about Leiber? Can we discuss fantasy reading without Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser?

I don't think any good fantasy list is complete without Roger Zelazny's original Amber series: Nine Princes in Amber, The Guns of Avalon, The Sign of the Unicorn, The Hand of Oberon, and The Courts of Chaos.

How about Alfred Bester - The Demolished Man and The Stars My Destination.

One of my favorites is the too-often-forgotten H. Beam Piper (Little Fuzzy, Space Viking, Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen, and oodles of great short stories).
