but to really get the feel of it you need to listen to it from old time vinyl, the sound is just made for all those small schrates and things. That is precisely what I DON'T want to hear, and the major reason I don't miss vinyl one bit. All those scratches and pops made most music unlistenable to m...

So, what exactly is your definition of American folk music? Or, rather, what do you include in American folk music? On a slightly different note, you do realize that the majority of the music culture we have today has its base in American folk music, right? In particular, I'm thinking of the Blues....

Great idea for a thread, even if I have no musical interest in your first review. But keep them coming! Maybe when I'm not so tired I'll post a review of my own.

Wounded Knee

Kind of appropriate, as I fell and hurt my left knee yesterday. X-rays were negative, thank God! And I will in church tomorrow...

I never heard of that one before. Come to think of it, I doubt I've heard any Mountain aside from Mississippi Queen and Theme From an Imaginary Western.

Yeah, they could harmonize, all the while playing some icky folk rock. I can't take a moment of their music. Then again, I HATE with a passion 99% of American folk music.

Lately I've been listening to Magenta's latest, "Home". It's what I would call "pretty prog". I Have to be in the mood for it, but when I am, it works. Before that I was on quite a PFM kick. And before that, some extremly heavy symphonic metal with the recent Adagio album, "Dominate". That one has s...

Great site, great vendor. I buy most of my prog from them, both online and of course at Nearfest, where I'm always hounding their table. Quick service too, as I've gotten most of my orders within a couple days at most. The only downside? Being a NJ resident, I have to pay sales tax since its a NJ co...

I was off slightly on the number of Dream Theater DVD's, as they also released 2 titles from their "Official Bootleg" series. One was the 15th anniversary of "When Dream And Day Unite" concert, which i own, and recently they released the band playing "Dark Side of the Moon" live. They keep releasing...

Odyssey is well worth owning, and I say this after only hearing the first disc! That is the one with GH, Nexus and Nathan Mahl. Its a shame Nexus no longer has their lead vocalist from their two albums. Vocals on this new song are a little weak, but the music is terrific symphonic prog.

That's the whole Duke suite played in order. On the album the songs are spread out the entire disc. "Duke's Travels" has always been my favorite Genesis song, very intense playing on that.
