I do however think that your philosophy if put into action would have the ultimate effect of devaluing work that is easily copied. I believe the position of the anti-downloaders states that this has already happened. But this begs the question - what is the "value" of music? The value of music is t...

OK. Let's get full disclosure out of the way first. I own your Arisen CD. I like it. I didn't download it. I bought it based on the samples you had on CDBaby. I'm going to listen to it today. Joe, it seems to me you are confusing intellectual "property", with intellectual "ideas". I don't think so. ...

Maybe by radical libertarian he means anarchist. :) LOL. Actually, I work for the government (at the state level) doing one of the few things that I believe that a truly free society would delegate as a power of government. I'm not an anarchist, even though I think they have the advantage of logic ...

You're a radical Libertarian that doesn't believe that a man has the right to profit from the industry of his own intellect. That's a bit of an oxymoron. Libertarianism's most basic guiding concept is a human's right to ownership of his/herself and all that arises from their productivity, whether p...

I'm a heavy duty downloader. I've currently got 31 full length albums (6 are doubly evil since they are bootlegs) on my hard drive that I haven't listened to yet. Some of them will never be listened to. I generally clean house every week or so. As a rule, I download only progressive metal, power met...

Re: Celtic Woman

If you are able to catch this performance, I would recommend doing so. Meav is the greatest female singer of all time. I wanted to see the show. It was on my wife's birthday and everything. (She's wonderfully Irish and also a big fan). Unfortunately, it was also on Holy Thursday which isn't a good ...

Oh my goodness. You've had a quarter in your arm since 1988? :D

The new songs are great; thanks for sharing.

Re: Eragon

I couldn't find the book in either of the kids' rooms But I did find the first two books of the Bartimaeus trilogy. It's basically a Harry Potter young wizard kind of thing, but it's chock full of twisted humour. Bartimaeus is a 5000 year old djinni who talks to the reader in comical asides located...

Eragon

I had thought that my kids read this. They'd both ordered it from their school book club in recent years. Both had started to read it but quit. They said that they didn't like the character and place names. Admittedly, much of my own problems with lots of fantasy literature is the same thing. I'd he...

You'll have to let me know about The Spear! The book is pretty good. The plot is smattered with enough of the familiar and the original to keep it interesting. The story flows well, and the characters are interesting and seem real. The dialogue is a bit stilted as you might expect from a lot of the...

I've got to agree with David and Lelulily. Flo's disc is a treat. I'm really fond of Not I - it's a delightfully humble song. The Love That We Found is another great song - "'Cause life is more than good jobs" is something that can't be said enough in this practice room.

No solo albums coming from this gal. I'll tell you why - can't play, can't write. And I can't see myself doing a solo album of covers or songs someone else wrote for me. That's what Britney Spears does. I don't mean to sound abrupt, but unless I'm just one of the pieces of a greater whole, say, lik...

Finished Bernard Cornwell's excellent Warlord Chronicles a couple of days ago. Just starting on Louis De Wohl's The Spear. It's a book about the Roman soldier whose spear flew straight to the side of the King of the Universe.

Agreed. Their performance was wonderful. It was a bold choice to put into the set - and it worked beautifully.
