Congrats, Flo! Girls are awesome; I'm blessed with two myself. Hope things are going well.

By the way, Practice Room gets two big thumbs up from this house! Nice work.

Ack, priorities

So I was talking to the wife to the other day to sort of get a feel for what she'd think of spending our anniversary in Chattanooga and going to the Tivoli show. Same day - what luck. I've played Glass Hammer around her without, um, much luck. She has no memory for band names. I think she remembers ...

Tough one. I probably played all the Rush from 2112 to Signals about the same number of times. None of them really dominated the other, but these releases probably spent more time than anything else over the years. Judas Priest's S-Trilogy - Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, and Stained Class as ...

DUDE!!! Post a link!! Who was on it?? Well, I've never seen it on the web-internet - just on Usenet which is the old text-based message board type protocol for ancient nerds. Angry prog snobs used to hang out on rec.music.progressive before Nearfest and ProgressiveEars came along. :D Those guys hat...

I made my own <a href="http://home.insight.rr.com/joekruger/Glass Hammer - The Compilations.doc">CD liner</a> without lyrics, "borrowing" an image from the website.

The lyrics are easy enough to find on ghfan.net if you want to print your own.

A few years ago I stumbled across a BBC Channel 4 show called the Top Ten of Prog Rock hosted by Bill Bailey, the British comedian. It was on UseNet, so I downloaded it and saved it. The audio was slightly out of sync, but it was still quite entertaining, but I'm still emotionally scarred from watch...

Re: GH for somewhat arrogant indie-loving intellectuals?

The only thing is, I'm not exactly sure if I can do this. Do you think prog is a subculture of passably significant enough status for it to be written about? Like... would we say prog has a culture uniform enough to be classified? What would it be? Please excuse my bold disrespect for the social sc...

It's Barry Gibb. He was back-stage singing all the high notes the ladies couldn't reach.

I'd recommend first getting Lex Rex. It's my favorite disc from the band. Other than a handful of tracks on the latest compilations disc, it's also the least allegorical and most pro-Christian of all their albums which may influence my strongly favorable opinion of it. I'd follow that up with Lex Li...
