Perelandra is wonderful and the end truly beautiful and profound. I never finished "That Hideous Strength". I never tire of reading Perelandra, or, for that matter, Out of the Silent Planet. Perelandra is one of the most beautiful tales that I have ever read. The last two times I went through the t...

Great list, Shano! I'm not up to a top twenty, but a few others came to mind reading your list:

Premiata Forneria Marconi - The World Became the World
Todd Rundgren - Todd
Barclay James Harvest - Barclay James Harvest
Vangelis - Heaven and Hell

I'll have to think about it when I'm not too tired...

I think it was Days of Future Passed, by the Moody Blues. My first 45 (does that date me?) was the venerable Classical Gas, by Mason Williams (I think the B side was Long Time Blues). My most recent album was Culture of Ascent.

I think 'dazzling' was the word they used. All in all, a great DVD, despite the problems with the video. Between the 5.1 and the performance, I was quite a happy customer (as were the two others that got the DVD from me for Christmas)

Re: Quality of Video on Tivoli

Obviously this is a top notch concert by GH. They are on top of their game. I'd like to see a discussion about the quality of the video itself. The Dutch Progressive Rock Page has just posted their review of Live at the Tivoli . http://www.dprp.net/reviews/200904.php Bottom line: brilliant performa...

“I see man’s mind cannot be satisfied unless it be illumined by that Truth beyond which there exists no other truth. Within that Truth, once man’s mind reaches it, It rests like a wild beast within its den. And it can reach it—if not all desire is vain! We wander like a wild beast looking for that ...

And probably the most important lines from that song... If it can be longed for surely Surely it must exist Climb with me till we see those heights They must exist They must exist Longing, sweet desire If we search for something not of earth Then we search out this cold rock in vain. More to ponder...

The Man Who Was Thursday is my favorite book. I just read it again for the 4th or 5th time a couple of weeks ago. I can't say that I understand it more each time, but I certainly do enjoy it more at least. :D I know exactly what you mean. I have read it three times, but I feel like I am due to star...

I think it is interesting that Chesterton links age with sin -- the two "meditations on a theme" in Sun Song also deal with age. The first is a memory before the Fall, when we were "young"; in the second we have grown old and we are striving to recapture what has been lost. So, since I can't help b...
