Have You Seen The GH News Page???

Post by StepSeven » Wed Dec 07, 2005 1:02 am

If you haven't, here's the scoop:

--------------------------------------------

Just in time for the holidays, Glass Hammer will be releasing a brand new album. That's right, A NEW ALBUM!! But this one will be available exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store. The album will contain, among other tasty goodies, a never-before-heard epic titled, "At the Court of Alkinoos," which clocks in at just over twenty minutes. It should also include a live concert recording of "Time Marches On" from 1997, and Glass Hammer's cover of Camel's "Airborne" from 1996. Stay tuned for further details.

--------------------------------------------

Let the drooling begin. :D

I was actually just thinking about that the other day. Yay!

...So now the question is: When?
Workings of man crying out from the fires set aflame
By his blindness to see that the warmth of his being
Is promised for his seeing, his reaching so clearly

iTunes has a proprietary format - m4a. I believe there are converters out there, but I just sucked it up and became a pod person.
Where does one purchase a witty and apropos signature?

iTunes format is necessarily proprietary in the strictest sense of the word. iTunes uses advanced audio codec, AAC. MP3 technology is based on the much older MPEG layer one technology, whereas AAC is MPEG layer four. A 128 bit AAC file has quite a bit more detail, even though the format is still compressed, than an equivalent MP3 file encoded at the same bit rate and the file will also take up slightly less hard drive space. Just play your iTunes purchases through the iTunes app or Quicktime and you should be good to go.

So when is this coming out???

This is great news, I can't believe it took me so long to find out. I guess I need to make some more room on my iPod.
And now for something completly different...

I've got a Creative Zen Xtra for any portable needs. Anything else is listened to on ye olde amp/CD player/speakers combo (i.e. a CD!)

Zen won't take AAC files, ergo I'm stymied...
