Vote For Glass Hammer - Tolkien Award

Post by MayorOfLongview » Mon May 29, 2006 8:56 pm

http://www.herenistarion.org/

Assuming anyone can vote - please do so today! I got this email today. Its quite an honor just to be nominated.

Glass Hammer ,
We are writing to you today to inform you of your nomination for the 2006
Imperishable Flame: the Award of the Northeast Tolkien Society.
In its 5 1/2 year history The Northeast Tolkien Society
(http://www.herenistarion.org) has always cited, reviewed and featured,
but never awarded, the incredible work contributed by scholars, artists,
musicians, filmmakers, which has broadened the field of understanding
Tolkien's work and inspired the creativity of others.

In seeking to highlight the work of scholars, artists and others, we
decided to create 3 award categories, Scholarship, Creativity (art, music,
etc) and Appreciation (fan driven website or forms of appreciation for
Tolkien).

The Northeast Tolkien Society has come to be fortunate to have a lively
community and readership surrounding it, and we wished to combine their
love for your work into the award system. Therefore we have made it a
process of voting not from the staff of the society, but from the readers.
The only involvement the staff of the society had was choosing the
nominees.
The name of the award: The Imperishable Flame, was chosen by our readers,
this symbolizes the undying influence that your work has played in all our
lives. The nominees were chosen for work accomplished in 2005.
Now on our site is the complete list of nominees and polls for readers to
vote who they wish to see win the award for each particular category. We
encourage you all to cite this nomination on your particular website or
news forum in order to inspire your own readers to vote for you as well.

The Imperishable Flame Award(s) will be given on July 2nd, 2006 during the
VIP Reception at this years Gathering of the Fellowship
event(http://www.gatheringofthefellowship.org). If you are not on hand we
will arrange shipment of the award to you and will inquire ahead of time
for a small reception speech if you are not in attendance.

In Fellowship,
Anthony S Burdge Jessica Burke
Chairs Northeast Tolkien Society

PS: Vote for Dr. Amy Sturgiss too. She's a GH forum member and a good friend.

Those two have my vote too. Congratulation on the nomination--and the results show both GH and Dr. Sturgis to be way out front. Y'all rock!

Who's the woman who introduced the band at the Belmont show?
Quikrete - the biggest name in concrete since Jimmy Hoffa.

Well that was Dr. Sturgiss. In fact, she's the one who booked the concert for us. We owe her much!

Looks like the artist is catching up to us quick. You can vote on this once per day - as his mom, dad, sisters and cousins seem to be doing. If you want GH to win this award - please vote daily :)

We wants it precious!

Just a reminder - you can vote once every 24 hours! I've been giving Glass Hammer my vote each day. :D

Thanks also, tremendously, to all of you who've been supporting me in the Tolkien/Inklings Scholarship category. Your encouragement and support mean a great deal to me, and I'm in your debt.

As of this moment, GH is ahead by 9 votes with 49.8%. Be sure to vote today! (And tomorrow, and the day after...! LOL!)
