I'm sure it's a result of the recent update/anti-spam warfare. They'll get it :D

Yeah, chill.
Workings of man crying out from the fires set aflame
By his blindness to see that the warmth of his being
Is promised for his seeing, his reaching so clearly

I am not sure they are broken, but they do work differently. If I select text from a post, then click the "quote" button to create a reply I see the broken version which looks like this:

"[quote]="Bnielsen"]why are all [quotes] broken?[/quote]"

If I copy and paste the text into a reply, then highlight it and click the "Quote" button in the "Post a reply" box the code works properly and looks like this:

"[qoute]why are all [quotes] broken?[/quote]"

A workaround, until I figure out what is going on would be to remove the quotee's name (e.g. ="Bnielsen") from the opening quote tag.

What, are you trying to make this like the New Word Association?

According to the latest conspiracy theory web sites, it's one big evil plot by the Illuminati to force the huddled masses to stop quoting and to create their own unique, clever and witty sayings.

"It riles them to believe
That you perceive
The web they weave
And keep on thinking free.
On a crystal morning I can see the dewdrops falling
Down from a gleaming heaven, I can hear the voices calling
When you comin' home now, son, this world is not for you
