What's your best live CD/album you own.
I would go for "Seconds Out" by Genesis although GH at Nearfest is flying up my list of favourites.
Others in a short list would include "Paris" - Supertramp
"Exit Stage Left" - Rush

My favorite live albums are ones where the songs are improved in live performance, or at least rearranged as to not sound identical to the studio versions.
For example - GH Live at Nearfest I thought was a very good live album as the Lex Rex songs took on new life when played by a live band. (The Inconsolable Secret live was closer to the album version, though I would still rate it high as a live recording because of the energy and the additional guitar parts!)
I haven't heard "Paris" in years but my recollection was that it was very similiar to the studio recordings. If I'm wrong please let me know, I might check it out again!
Otherwise:
Seconds Out (Genesis)
Yessongs (Yes)
Playing the Fool (Gentle Giant)
Roxy & Elsewhere (Zappa)
Live 2003 (Flower Kings)
Back to the Bars (Todd Rundgren)
Any Brian Wilson live album (of recent years)
Biggest disappointments as live albums:
The Bruford Tapes (Bruford)
Any Mike Keneally live album
Any Beach Boys live album

For me it would be Dream Theater's "SCORE" (when it comes out that is.

)

Yessongs is a good one !
On 'Two for the Show', I like Journey from Mariabronn far better than the studio version !

I don't think "Live" by Brian Reagen counts. I can't think of any other live albums (excluding GH).

There are a lot of great ones to choose from (most already mentioned) but I think my favorite live album ever is Live Magnetic Air by Max Webster. I just wish I actually had a copy!! YesShows is probably second.

Best live album is a tough one but if I had to choose but one I'd go with Live at the Fillmore East by the Allman Brothers Band.

This is actually the whole show of which 2 or 3 songs were taken from and put on the YESSHOWS official release. Includes the famous medley(TAAW/LDR/PC/Survival/The Fish/Soon)
, and incredible versions of ST and On The Silent Wings of Freedom, and yes-AWAKEN!!!!To me-this is better than Yeshows!

This has been my favorite by far:
Nanci Griffith-One Fair Summer Evening
I also like the Storytellers that Sarah McLachlan did.
Buster:"Sister is my new mother, Mother..."

Can't believe I forgot my alltime favorite:
ELP - Pictures at an Exhibition
I realized I needed to be a musician after hearing it.

In no particular order:
Renaissance - Live at Carnegie Hall
Gentle Giant - Playing the Fool
Yes - Yessongs
Yes - Yesshows
Genesis - Seconds Out
ELP - Welcome Back My Friends...
ELP - Pictures at an Exhibition
I also have to add my vote for The Allman Brothers Live at Filmore East and add the live version of Mountain Jam on Eat a Peach.
I don't want to be room noise...generically speaking. (2nd Chapter of Acts)
