favorite Gh lyrics

Post by Sam Gamgee » Thu Sep 11, 2003 9:01 pm

This forum is getting pretty boring. So I'll ask something I've been curious about for some time:
What do you think are the best lines from GH songs? Just a few lines you really love that stick out whether because of their eloquence, truth, or humor, or all three at once.

Is promised for his seeing, his reaching so clearly[/i][/color]

Mine would have to be:

"Heaven lies beyond the next curve of the road"

Words to live by! What I mean is that these words help me to remember that my goal is beyond what I see in this world. It is to be in heaven!

my favorite:

Throw off the chains for the mortal is done away
Her heart is breaking for joy unknown

(i'm going to put that on my senior page in the school yearbook :))

I might have gone for that first quote, but I didn't understand what the words were for the first couple of years i listened to it. ;)

Never yearn, never burn for a junkyard angel;
Never cry, never sigh for a junkyard angel.

Something has called to us all of our days ... whispering of glory, and glorious ways ... someone has reached from an infinite space, found in our hearts the most secretive place
Wrapped in a vision, though not clearly seen, for mankind is fallen

There is a yearning in every heart,
Reminding us all who we were from the start.
Destined for more than our earthly estate,
Heaven may beckon though we're doomed to wait
So we may search for what truth we can find, for mankind is fallen

There is a dragon as real as can be, covered mankind with the fruit of the tree,
And he sees the truth of who we’re meant to be …

Searching for someone who calls from above,
A hero to follow, and worthy of love
Has risen from death and then rolled back the stone
Holds high the sword and then urges us on
Put down the dragon we served all along, for mankind is fallen …

Hey, that's cheating! You can't pick a whole song! If you could do that, I'd pick heroes and dragson too, but I'm talking about the little snippets. ;)

Fred's new 'do' is quite suave and debonair. He kinda looks like an orchestra conductor now ;)

The DVD taping and shows were AWESOME! Great fun, can't wait to see them!! Also great to see everybody.

This segment from "Lliusion" off Perelandra:

Touch topographic tales inconsequential tones
Wrapped up in tragic triviality
The farce of fleeting copulation

The death we live by

And still each day the tick tock lilies bloom
And still each day I feel the

Time...Stream....dance tendrils of your mind
Caress my soul and call it forth to seeing

Fall...Fast...to emptiness at last
Deception is the essence of our being

The first three lines are of particular note for me; they're the sort of lyrical structure that I like so much in the work of Neil Peart of Rush.

cheers,

Now the Knight of the East
With axe swinging to and fro
Would force his way into the fray
Ever seeking out his foe

One on one he would fight
And champion his King
Yet he knew his doom was near
When his eyes met
Those glaring orbs full of malice
Of the evil Knight ‘neath his serpent banner

Now as ‘round them battle raged
These two would fight a private war
And though he was doomed
He was singing a song of slaying

Then his axe was broken
Still he fought with mailed fists
As deep plunged the sword of the
Knight of the North into his heart
And he died

I love how the music provides so much more emotion behind his death on the last line than the lyrics themselves could carry.

(and yes, I *shamelessly* love seeing myself on the dvd at that point in the song too =p )

"Why? Why would a person waste time
Chasing for things that have nothing to do
With the business of staying alive-
Better to wait 'til you're dead."

Love that little piece... :)

The hope of glory calls to everyone
Each of us
Who yearning
Will listen

(that's engraved on the back of my ipod. Well, the first line at least, nothing else would fit.)

Also

It's such a weary world that groans beneath the curse
If only we could go
Home
