You've been on this forum for ten years and now you lost your account? What happened?

I'm back too! Although I didn't lose my account and I don't think anyone noticed I was gone... lol!
Luke 6:27-31
27 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

I think of it like archeology. Glass Hammer has a lot of great archeology.

Go to ghfan.net and you can revisit the late 90's/early 2000's of the internet. Remember navbars? and guestbooks? What a world away we are from this!!

Then come to the forum and you can see the sedimentation of a bustling, thriving community of people who fulfilled their needs to procrastinate and socialize while lazily sitting at their computer on forums. Unlike guestbooks, living forums still exist in some places of the world, like the dark underbelly of the internet (4chan, anyone?). But I feel like forums in general are less popular these days, because now everyone is on facebook.

Thus Steve has cleverly tried to adapt the forum to facebook's culture by asking interesting questions and making interesting posts with the GH page, but the problem with this is that in addition to its weakness as a medium for sustained conversation, facebook is really meant to be used with friends. If you don't know at least some of the people in real life, you're less likely to chip in. After all, it's your real name, and all your real friends can see what you say, and you don't want to spam their feeds! Forums, on the other hand, were meant for strangers who shared a common interest. They're really a very special medium in many ways.

Archaeology. Fascinating, and perhaps a bit sad. But it's so interesting to see how fast culture changes, and how quickly we adapt ourselves and our socialization within these new cultures - how quickly our old cultures seem dead and foreign!

Hmm. Facebook is now permanently part of my life, now, but it's not my ENTIRE life. Whenever I go to another site and it asks me if I want to link with my FB account from there, I always decline. I am like a person who likes to keep each food item on their plate separate. It's not like it's so hard to go to another site from FB or vice-versa.

Also, I keep my comments brief on FB. For some reason I feel like I can be more wordy on a forum . . . -_-

I preferred the old days of the forum to the new FB format. I miss the conversations. I read them all once upon a time. But I check in now and then - glad to see someones still here!

My address is on my Facebook page. Still in Grand Prairie . . .
Hmm, I can't even remember how long ago you promised me those posters . . . all I remember was that I was still in college then.

Well, I'm moving out of my apartment this month, and I have them sitting on a shelf, all by themselves. Maybe I'll do it this time!
