Costumes...

Post by Reepicheep » Sun Sep 26, 2004 6:17 pm

Does anyone have any ideas about how to make a budget-friendly Marge Simpson wig? Josh and I are throwing a costume party..and Sera and I are going to be Maggie and Marge. I think I'll have to make the dress, and spray paint a necklace and some shoes..but the hair is killing me. I've gotta have a tall, blue beehive somehow!!

What is everyone dressing up as this year? Obviously, I don't mean to offend anyone who isn't going to. We just decided this year, that halloween is what you make of it. We're not casting spells or anything
we just like the idea of dressing up :)

Sounds like paper-mache time to me!!

The real problem is that it leans, which means you need a firm anchor or heavy base because the center of gravity will be off. Maybe hollow sculpted styrofoam would work. Do each bulge as a seperate ring.

make a lightweight frame with pipecleaners and coathangers, wrap it with light gauze or terrycloth, then buy one or two bright blue curly clown wigs, pull them apart, and sew onto the frame viola!

as far as the necklace goes,

spray paint ping pong balls white, thread them together, it should be the right proportions =)

That's especially true considering that if I want to do this thing to scale, the hair should be half my height. Which ...um, I guess isn't that tall after all  hee hee

I wasn't going to be anything for Halloween, but now I'm scraping together a last minut costume for Persephone, Goddess of the Dead.... Ok, so she's more of a victim type of goddess of the dead, since she was kidnapped and everything, but the fact is, she's queen of the dead's realm. :) Muahahah!

I know what I'm going to be next year though... A chinese grandpa! (you know, like with the special straw hat, bamboo cane and all... heehee)

Jon-Michael will be appearing as a bumble bee (at a church function). Our neighborhood has no trick or treaters or we'd be out there with 'em. He calls his character "happy bee".
