Update on the Precious

Remember my wooden recorder that I never named? Well I finally named it. Him. Whatever. Dilly. Well, actually, I named him Eärendil, but you can't go around calling recorders long names in elvish. (That's reserved for bass guitars) so it's Dilly the soprano and Gregorius Constantius Albertine Bob XXIX the alto - but for once he's agreed to be abbreviated to Bob. Dilly and Bob.

So I see a pattern here. We got the elvish recorder, Eärendil (cool silmarillion elf), we got the elvish bird, Cuaranel ('dove princess'), we got the elvish fish Ulmo III (Vala of the ocean, and he's the third one because the other two died) and the elvish bass guitar, Moranimannandu ('black and white gift from on high')...

Next I'm going to name my mechanical pencils.

Black and white...lol. Now here's an example of free-association. The '93 Jethro Tull tour program tells us that Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond, their bassist from '71 thru '75, would onstage wear a black-and-white-striped silk suit, which was matched by...

...a black-and-white-striped bass guitar...

...a black-and-white-striped guitar...

...black-and-white-striped guitar/bass straps...

...a black-and-white-striped hatband...

...and (somehow, I simply cannot picture this in my mind's eye) a black-and-white-striped upright acoustic bass.

You've shortened names to their essence, Dilly and Bob. May I suggest that, short for Moranimannandu, one syllable. Du. And next thing you know, that's gonna get modified to "Dude"!!

I've never considered naming my own bass guitar. Any ideas?

Ok, looking at mny elvish dictionary, i've come with a few names *smirk snicker snicker*
Some for their quenya coolness, and some because they sound so stupid - for the record, laica means green and is pronounced "Like a" only in one word.

So here's the quenya for the sake of quenya:

laicalor(i} - green dream(s)
mirroanwenat - incarnate thing (i dunno, just sounded weird)
salmalaica - green lyre
Laicaran, laicaravë, laicaraumo - green noise
laicalokë - green serpent
sulpalaica - green soup (lol! funny! soup soup!)
laicanat - green thing

And here's quenya for the sake of it's silly sound:

aicalaica - fell green
laicamundo - (lol) green ox
laicamáma - (rofl!) green sheep

Ok, I had fun. if you want more, I can think of a WHOLE bunch. my vote goes for one of the last three. They're so stupid!!!
