My Tribute to GH and TIS

Post by Bnielsen » Sat Mar 18, 2006 12:22 pm

Hey guys, I've been messing around with my new keyboard, and as always I try to pick apart parts of GH tunes =)

Heres a rough mp3 of the ending third of Having Caught a Glimpse =)

Listen to the MP3 here

*Apologies for the slight bit of distortion on the loudest parts, didn't quite have the level set right when I recorded it.

Casio Privia PX-310
retails for about $600, fantastic sound, midi compatable, weighted keys, full 88 keys, built in speakers, boatload of other features.. light as anything too. I highly reccomend it for home or small gig use.

That's great, Brian! Good job! Are you actually playing it in the right key- what is it, D#?? I cheat live- I transpose it down a half step so it's the same as the key from Long And Long Ago- too confusing otherwise :D

Nicely done! It makes a great piano piece all by itself. I nearly got a tear in my eye. 8)

=) =) =)

Thanks Steve/Fred

I played it in the same key HCaG is in, melody starting on the D#/Eb, in my mind i think of it in Eb... hmm (music theory cobwebs clearing? lol)

That was just done on the fly... if I get my other computer set up with the MIDI and whatnot, I might really get that tear all the way =)

I unabashedly love learning your guys stuff.. I should record the beginning of "Centurion"... also have a good deal of the middle "happiness, did you find it in her arms" section of "Further up and Further In"

What I wouldn't give for some of the chord cheat sheets for other sections =p

Brian!! :o WOW! ok, two things...

1. This is beautiful (haha, no offense Steve and Fred). It totally sounds like you are playing in a concert hall, you are so laid back and playing confidently.

2. You have moved me to come and post here for the first time i think in over a year. HI GH HOW IS EVERYBODY!!! I miss you all...

I would like you all to know, Brian is my link, he keeps me updated on all things GH and once in a while plays a bit for me on that keyboard of his. Yes, over the phone, cause he lives all the way in Philly. I always knew he was talented but I have never heard it in good quality speakers that dont cut out and go all static half the time. Haha, I have gotten voice messages on my phone that are just him playing something from GH. Always brightens my day. I miss you guys terribly.

Almost done with my schooling, working on the Master's thesis and will graduate in August... oh its so close. Dont know when I will be back on the boards for a while and I have no time to read it all but I hope you are all doing well.
Hugs,
the busy and therefore prodigal,
Jen
