Maybe our German friends can help us here. I can't imagine that metal websites would favorably review a GH album. For one, we use more viola on our new album than electric guitar.
These might be really awful!??? Shall we see?

From what I can gather (from Babel I might add!) these reviews are generally positive, except maybe the second one but even it isn't scathing. I see a lot of comments about the length of tracks (did I spot "long-winded" in there somewhere  ) but on the whole I think TIS comes out well here, especially when you consider they're primarily metal/rock sites.

So far so good but I know we've got people on here who can do better than Babel...

No1.
Thanks to Walter and Susies good vocals GH sounds exactly like Shadow Gallery. They found the first Cd to Retro. The hole thing is very positive for GH.
No2.
They don´t like the first CD. Not enough volume and power (???) but they do like the second Cd. Enough volume and power (???)
No3.
Loves the first CD but don´t like the second. To many still moments, not enough rooms for fantastic solos and to less guitar.
No4.
Gives a positive review of the album just wishes more changes on the second Cd.
No5.
I couln´t open. I guess you need to be a member to log in from Germany.

I hope this is a small help. They all foinds this album a muss for real Symphonic prog fans but not necessary a album for traditional Rocklistners. If you wan´t I can translate the hole review just give me a word and I´ll try to do my best.

Thanks Bozo, old chum! I knew you'd come through 8)

I think European sites and reviewers will give a more impartial review of an album like TIS as, on the whole, they seem more open to crossing genres and don't seem to have the obsession with pigeon-holing a band into some sub-genre straitjacket. For a bunch of metal sites to give generally positive reviews for something that is demonstrably not metal is proof of this IMO.

Sadly, the UK and US can't seem to see "outside the box" for a lot of the time and so you get the whole litany of supposed genres

Neo
Symphonic
Retro
Canterbury
RIO
Banana (OK, this one's a lie :P )

I don't dispute the usefulness of comparing a band to something else on occasion to allow someone to get an idea of what to expect but before too long you're in "Judean People's Front" territory, if you see what I mean! Pointless and a waste of time!

Music's one of two things; GOOD or NOT GOOD. Suffice to say GH "own" the former category. Ooh, I can't resist....

Don't you see? The Silly Woman has been owned by The Treadmill, just as GH own Stellar Music. I like that phrase! OWNED!!

I'll have a crack at your game, me old mucker, but being so pure of heart I might have a bit of a problem with mendacity...

Everyone must love that phrase.... even if mistyped and turned into like, the most common online gaming word, "PWNT!!!!111one!1"

That can be annoying osmetimes though....

Thanks for the overviews, Bozo!! A little of everything there. I'm not at all offended by people who are looking for more "shreddy" music not overwhelmingly getting behind TIS. It's great they took time to review it and gave honest opinions, not all of them negative!!

We'll have to do a seriously metal album at some point. We'll buy wigs. :D

You guys wouldn't necessarily have to buy wigs. Depending on the brand of metal you play, y'all might just need to shave your heads to the scalp and get a few tattoos!

Yeah, but we're talking about metal here so that's quite enough talk about your extracurricular activities
