Hm. Really... I am conflicted here.... I know that these are only cuts from different tracks, but the sound feels... 'sterile'.... and the music cuts chosen..... None of them just out-and-out GRAB me, ya know?

I am NOT saying I don't LIKE what I hear, it just... doesn't seem like GH to me (which is stupid to say, since you have always been moving foward with the sound of GH since the late 1990's albums)
and it feels like something vital is... missing...

That being said, there's some wonderful vocals that I hear so far, and the lyrics definately have my attention, and I certainly will pre-order my copy and wait with bated breath for it to arrive.

**Just an fyi- there's some formatting issues on the page, and a misspelled track title 'Ember Without Namer 2'

This is what first comes to mind.

South Side Of The Sky
Very good cover!

Sun Song
Sounds like GH should sound. Great use of guitar, violin, keys and vocals.

Life By Light
Great vocals and canon with typical GH singing background music.

Ember Without Name (1)
Solo! And crazy Fred keyboard style! :D

Ember Without Name (2)
Chronometree revival with easier vocals.

Ember Without Name (3)
I really like this piece. Its like the weird ‘curse’ piece on KOTN.

Into Thin Air (1)
Ok, not mind-blowing.

Into Thin Air (2)
Mellow lyrical part

Into Thin Air (3)
Solo! Great vocals.

Overall first impression : A

Judging from the samples, this just may dethrone Chronometree as my favorite album. I love the samples! Jon's voice fits perfectly as well!

Here's my reaction:

South Side of The Sky - Woah, did not expect the intro to sound like that, and the kick in sounds really cool. I like the overall sound but was begging Matt to try and imitate more of Bruford's style here, but I'm not going to complain because he still sounds great.

Sun Song - I like the theme used here, but I'm hoping there's more to it than that because otherwise it'd feel more like a average transition track, but I doubt that's what it will be...

Life By Light - Whoa. Jon is still an angel singer for sure. I absolutely am in-love with the music here also. I'm excited about this track.

Ember Without Name - I feel a Dream Theater influence here, and compared to Into Thin Air, it is like the dark side of the album, and the band is most technical and edgy here it seems. I liked all I heard from it and am excited for this song.

Into Thin Air - Unlike EWN, this is the (seemingly) lighter and airier side of the album (EWN and ITA seem like a Yin and Yang switch off, and I find that to be very creative, great idea GH, seriously!). Unfortunately, from what I've heard, I can't say I'm as impressed as I was with EWN. I like the themes and vocals, but it seems kind of cliche so far, but only time will tell.

Rest - BEAUTIFUL chord progression. Reminds me a lot of 'Afterglow' (by Genesis), and from what I've heard, sounds like an awesome album closer, how exciting.

:D Well, that's my two-cents. Overall I like the majority of it, and can't wait. Pre-ordering asap.

Glass Hammer - The Metal Years!!

I like what I hear but obviously it's not enough to form any meaningful opinion. I await with bated breath...
