Mellotron

You guys ever play a real one?

How about making new 'tapes' for a rack of our voices?

I once make a mellotron out of rubberbands and tennis ball.

Wait, did you say mellotron or rubberband ball?
I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?

Indeed. There's one not to far from here, at a studio on Lookout Mtn. We've used it before. In fact, it was the first one I ever played.

Golly, I would love a change to play a real one...

Maybe Dennis Haley (the keyboard tech at NF) will let me have 30 seconds with one.

There's a studio on Lookout Mtn, eh? Anywhere near Covenant College?

I recently discovered the GForce M-Tron software emulation. I wonder if anyone has tried that, or any of the other GForce packages? I'm looking at them seriously right now (or will be over the summer).

I owned a mellotron mk400, back in the 80's. I got it from Adrian Wagner and sold it to the guys in IQ. I loved the old box but the keyboard and tape set up makes for a cumbersome action. Wish I stil had it though.
Just getting into the newer prog bands and much appreciate Glass Hammer. 8)

Hey,
Welcome to the forum - even if you didn't save the Mellotron for us!

Wow, those prices are steep!! And we don't use Kurzweil. Good samples though. G-Media's M-Tron runs as a VST plugin on any PC and it's WAY cheaper, and sounds awesome. One of these days I'll snag it.

And Martin Orford sold it to Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Arena) a few years later. He never really did get along with that contraption, and the last couple of years he owned it he used it as a toy box for his nephews! Nolan may yet stil have it if you wish to buy it back...
Wheee!

True, Martin O. has no love for Mellotrons ... he recently posted a short rant about it on the IQ website discussion board.
