I must be a 24 addict.

Yesterday a DVD of the first four episodes of this season, along with the first act of episode 5 (which won't be broadcast until this Monday), was released.

I bought it.

Fortunately the spouse loves 24 too. (Not true for all of our music preferences. Last night I was watching a bit of the ELP DVD 'Beyond the Beginning', specifically the clip of Emerson & Palmer performing "Honky Tonk Train Blues" with the Oscar Peterson trio, and my wife walked in and called it "weird stuff." OK, so I won't be pulling out the Magma CDs...)

Greetings friends of GH - My name is Gary, aka Stonewolf. I first heard of GH from a subscription to Progression magazine back in the days of On to Evermore. Bought it and liked 1/2 of it mostly because of the cool analog synth sounds and heavy bass lines. Didn't pay much attention again until the Belmont dvd came out then was totally blown away by how far they advanced; in leaps and bounds over other prog bands, in just a few short years.
Anyway, I have a B.A. in music education and taught for a while until settling down with the phone company where I am a trainer (go figure  ) Spend most of my eves working out tunes and transposing for guitar and bass. Any musicians in Charlotte, NC feel free to send a mail...

Welcome to the forums, stone!

If you liked the Belmont DVD, you will really enjoy the CD Live At NEARFest!

Thanks Neilsen, which cd were they promoting on that one? I heard the a/v quality was pretty bad, is that true?

Can we deduce from this quote and your avatar image that you are a bass player, and a Ric player at that?

Sure can, although my main instrument is the guitar, I did manage to pick up a georgeous bluebust Ric almost a year ago. Before that, had to beg and borrow from friends. Mr Babb does a very good job simulating the Ric tone with his Yamaha but alas, is just not the same. Now all I need is a small bass amp, any suggestions?

OK, I finally had a chance to watch the first four hours of 24 and I'm up to speed :) Man, it's definitely hitting the fan! Pretty intense. We need a dedicated 24 thread :D

Live at NEARFest has AWESOME sound. No video (just some fan vids that made it onto the DVDs)

In fact, one reveiwer said that it was in his top-5 best sounding live albums, EVER.

He was probably talking about Lex Live. It sounds (and looks) fine for the resources we had at the time (no pun intended) and I think it holds up well but Live @ Nearfest is certainly better!!

Just one--get something that's used. I'd bet diamonds to little green apples that there are many amps on eBay, just for starters, that haven't been used much for over a year, ever since the buyer (or recepient of a gift) decided he wasn't gonna use it much after all.

Checked out the thread entitled "Bass Guitars" yet? Some pics of my toys there. That's a bee-yoo-tiful Ric bass you have there.

Hey Everyone!
This is WES man!
Worked with Steve in Far Far away once upon a time.
Been busy raising my two daughters Fiona & Shayne for the last sixteen yrs.
I started running lights as my first job out of highschool and didn't look back for about 7 straight years on the road.

Met my ex at a gig at "Yesterdays" settled down and have come full circle.

I just quit a job I had been at for the last 16 years and am resuming my career as a Live Production Lighting Tech.

My last show was for GH when they debuted "Journey of the Dunadin" here in Chatt.

Please excuse my ramblings, I think sitting in a cubicle smelling my own farts for the last few years has left some short term (hopefully) drain bramige.

Shout out to TIM. Dude I am still so sorry for catching you on fire.
