yes symphonic live?

Post by shanocles » Tue Jan 11, 2011 12:30 am

hi all you yes fans.
i was listening to Yes on shuffle yesterday and remembered that they did an album of symphonic stuff back in the early 2000's. i have most of their albums but this one has not graced my ears... 'Yes symphonic live'

is it a cd worthy of purchase??
or do you have the dvd and rate it??

cheers,
shane.

btw, i've really loved playing bands on shuffle lately. spock's beard was great to hear across their catalogue and see the changes over the years.

IMHO by far the best DVD they have done, both for sound quality and content. Must-have. The orchestra is made up of young (mostly) Polish kids and they actually know how to groove with the music and stay in time. It's amazing. And they have soooo much fun. The arrangements actually embellish the music, they're very organic. And Tom Brislin, the stand-in keyboard player is fantastic.

I think the Close to the Edge rendition on this record is one of the best ever....

And the keybordist just stand up to the challenge of doing some Wakeman on the keyboards.

Gates of Delirium is also pretty outstanding!!!

....do I need to mention the quality of...ahem...Starship Trooper?

I think I don't.
